‘Art enriches life. It is a dialogue. The artists I represent come from different backgrounds and generations, but I feel they are artists who have the ability to root their work in reality in one form or another.

With the impetus to sincerely offer indelible experience and intelligent insights of visual arts, Chitramayee State Gallery of Art was inaugurated on January 26, 2004. This gallery is an autonomous body that operates under Youth Advancement Tourism and Culture Department, Government of Telangana.

 

The gallery showcases the works of several profound artists whose output is consistently outstanding, and exhibits the creations of some very exciting younger artists, as well.

 

In a bid to promote the overall ambience of art and culture, this state-owned gallery poises to be the most sought-after destination for enjoying local arts, and to floor nation-based and global-based exhibitions. Such events are conventionally hosted by the government wings that are keen in promoting their indigenous art.

Chitramayee State Gallery of Art has, thus far, conducted three editions of All India Art Competition and Exhibition where artist from across the nation participated enthusiastically; and the gallery stood as the primary venue for Indian Photography Festival for the last eight years where works of eminent photographers all over the world, are showcased.

 

The gallery is known for diligent research and connoisseurship, and regularly stages major exhibitions accompanied by scholarly publications. Art and sculpture camps are conducted apart from holding annual exhibition by opening up adequate gallery-space for free to encourage upcoming artists.
